Job Description: This nurse specialist provides clinical expertise to a specific population of patients across most clinical areas at Mercy Medical Center, with a focus on the adult and geriatric patient. This individual acts as a change agent for quality nursing standards, product evaluation and standardization, functioning in a self-directed, independent manner. In addition, the individual will serve as a mentor, consultant, educator, and role model in the areas of Wound/Ostomy (ET) nursing. This individual is a Registered Nurse, with a BSN and additional special education in the care of individuals with wounds, ostomies, pressure ulcers and related skin problems. The Wound/Ostomy (ET) Nurse holds a certification in Wound and Ostomy Nursing.

Must possess:
Bachelors degree

Graduate of an accredited nursing school In:
Nursing
2 years clinical experience
2 years Med Surg nursing
1 year Wound/Ostomy(ET) nursing.

Other education or work experience requirements (list):
CPR Certification required
Healthcare Providers level
Masters preferred

License Requirements:
RN License.
Must be licensed to practice in Maryland

(MBON) Certification Requirements:
Specialty Certification within 2 years of hire

Expert knowledge of human growth & development
Expert knowledge of anatomy, physiology & pathophysiology

Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team member
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
